A NEW TRADITION

The name is an interesting one. Dima translates, quite straightforward, into ‘Always’. But Gosto itself is something different. It's an abstract concept, describing a sensation, a sparkle. It’s the feeling of expectation, ‘good times’ and togetherness. But also stands for flavor, (good) taste and style. Multiple interpretations, but one common theme: The feeling of being in the right place at the right time. This multi faceted character had to be translated into a new, modern brand design, forward looking, but still conscious about Algeria’s culture and traditions.
For the brand and packaging design we created a graphic background depicting the facets of a cut gem, following the radial layout of a typical Algerian mosaïc. Different hues of blue lined with details of silver, create a sapphire like depth. All lines point to the diamond shaped brand lockup. High contrast for maximum legibility it stands out like a superhero’s chest plate. The custom made logo type for ‘Gosto’ was inspired by the Arabic tradition of calligraphy.
